Location: 7563 W. Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL (Doctor Phillips / Restaurant Row)
If you drive down Sand Lake Road’s famous "Restaurant Row," you’ll pass plenty of polished, white-tablecloth fine dining spots. Tucked away in a strip plaza along this stretch sits The Whiskey, a venue that rejects that formal aesthetic entirely.
This is a loud, dimly lit, high-energy gastropub that pairs gourmet, chef-driven burgers with a mind-boggling liquor selection. Its self-proclaimed vibe is "Gourmet Burgers, Craft Cocktails, and a side of Rock 'n' Roll"—and that is exactly what you get.
The Vibe & Atmosphere
Walking into The Whiskey feels like stepping into a cozy, dark, industrial speakeasy crossed with a high-end rock club. The walls are adorned with music memorabilia, wood accents, and shelves stacked to the ceiling with bottles.
The Crowd & Noise: It is compact, often packed, and unapologetically loud. They feature live music 7 nights a week, ranging from acoustic acts to rock bands. If you are looking for a quiet, intimate place to have a soft conversation, this isn’t it. But if you want a buzzy, electric environment with great crowd energy, it’s unmatched in the area.
The Crowd Mix: You’ll find a great mix here of local foodies, hospitality industry workers off their shifts, and tourists who managed to escape the theme park bubble.
The Drink Program: A Whiskey Lover’s Paradise
The defining feature behind the bar is the Whiskey Library, which proudly boasts over 1,000 selections of Bourbon, Rye, Scotch, Irish, and Japanese whiskies. They specialize in rare finds and exclusive hand-selected barrel pours.
If you aren't drinking your spirit neat or on a large rock, their mixology program is top-tier:
The Smoked Old Fashioned: A theatrical favorite—poured meticulously and smoked right in front of you, balancing the char of the wood with the sweetness of the bourbon.
Black Cherry Sour: A highly popular, tart, and accessible cocktail for those who want the kick of whiskey cut with bright, fruit-forward flavors.
Taster Flights: Because the menu is so massive, they offer custom whiskey flights, allowing you to sample high-end or obscure labels without committing to a full-priced pour.
The Food: Award-Winning, Creative Burgers
While the drinks get you through the door, the kitchen keeps you in your seat. The signature gourmet burgers are 8-ounce patties ground fresh daily using a custom, high-grade blend of short rib, brisket, and chuck. They are consistently rated among the absolute best burgers in Central Florida.
"The Whiskey" Burger ($20.00): The flagship offering. It comes dressed with arugula and a thick beefsteak tomato, topped with smoked gouda, bourbon bacon, sweet whiskey-stewed onions, and a rich dill aioli on a toasted bun. The meat blend is incredibly juicy and seasoned perfectly.
The Game Meats Menu: For adventurous foodies, The Whiskey rotates exotic game burgers. The Elk ($23.50) is served medium-rare with red wine poached onions and a pungent, creamy smoked blue cheese cream. The War Pig ($23.00) features a wild boar patty topped with sautéed Granny Smith apples, brie sauce, and a habanero bacon jam that delivers a perfect sweet-and-spicy punch.
Small Batch Sides & Apps: Don't skip the starters. The Bangin' Shrimp (tempura-battered and tossed in a spicy sriracha aioli) and the Parmesan Truffle Fries are phenomenal. If you prefer something highly indulgent, the Crab Fries come dusted in Old Bay and smothered in crab meat sautéed in char-grilled butter with crab mayo.
Insider Tip: Because of its popularity and relatively small footprint, peak dinner hours (especially Thursday through Saturday when the bands play) result in long wait times. Hit their Happy Hour (Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM) for a more laid-back experience and nearly half-off pricing on select appetizers like their fried pickles and mushrooms.
